girl was gang-raped by three youths so savagely,
police
said Wednesday, that she lost consciousness due to severe bleeding, after which the three took her for dead and threw her into a river in
MP
’s Sagar. She drowned.
Police have arrested the three men — Deepak Patel (25), Akshay Sen (19) and Shyam Patai — who had befriended the girl three days prior to her death and lured her into a trap.
The girl went missing from Bilhara on April 20. The family approached police for help but there was no sign of her. On April 23, her body was found floating in Dehar river in Rangir, around 35km away. Investigators zeroed in on a call received in the night of April 19 from someone.
Cops tracked down the caller, Patai, who after sustained interrogation, broke down and narrated the horror inflicted on the girl. He also named a co-accused, Akshay, police claimed.
After interrogating him, police checked CCTV footage from shops in Rangir and found a video that showed the girl sitting on a bike with Deepak. Police took him into custody from his home in Bilhara. Around the same time, the girl’s body was found floating in Dehar river.
.The autopsy revealed that the girl was raped and then drowned in the river. Police have taken forensic samples of the accused and sent them for DNA tests.
