Former Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa quizzed for 3.5 hours, denies sexual harassment

Bengaluru: Former Karnataka chief minister B S Yediyurappa denied

allegations

he had sexually harassed a

minor girl

, saying during almost three and a half hours of questioning by a

CID team

on Monday that he had been “only trying” to help her legally in an earlier sex assault case since the 17-year-old girl and her mother were from his family’s home constituency of Shikaripur.
The girl’s now deceased mother had lodged a complaint against Yediyurappa on March 14 this year in Bengaluru. She had said she had visited his house along with her daughter on Feb 2 seeking help in investigation of her daughter’s rape case.
Yediyurappa allegedly took the girl into a room and touched her inappropriately, the mother claimed, adding that he had opened the door after five minutes and the girl had then told her about the alleged harassment. The mother claimed he had apologised for his behaviour.
A team headed by SP Sarah Fathima questioned him at the CID office from 11am to 2.30pm. According to sources, the officers have not told Yediyurappa whether he has to appear again before them.
