Last week, Bollywood Hungama informed readers that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) had passed both the theatrical trailer and the final cut of Sikandar on Friday, March 21. The 3-minute and 38-second-long trailer was passed with a UA 13+ certificate and zero cuts. The film also received the same rating but it also faced minor cuts from the Examining Committee of the CBFC.

EXCLUSIVE: Salman Khan’s Sikandar faces CBFC scissor – ‘Home Minister’ reference scrapped, political hoarding visuals blurred

The CBFC asked the makers to mute the word ‘Home’ from ‘Home Minister’ at the beginning of the film and wherever else it was uttered in the film. Secondly, the visuals of a political party hoarding were asked to be blurred. Thankfully, the makers were not asked to make any visual cut. Hence, all the action and violent scenes have been spared modifications or deletions.

Once these changes were made, Sikandar makers were handed over the censor certificate on March 21. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 150.08 minutes. In other words, its run time is 2 hours 30 minutes and 8 seconds.

Meanwhile, there has been confusion over Sikandar’s actual length. Though the censor certificate mentions the run time, exhibition sources claim that the final length of the film is lesser, that is, 2 hours 15 minutes and 46 seconds.

Sikandar stars superstar Salman Khan along with Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, Kajal Aggarwal, Anjini Dhawan and others. It is directed by A R Murugadoss of Ghajini (2008) fame and is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala’s Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. While the film releases worldwide on Sunday, March 30, the advance booking will commence tomorrow, that is, Tuesday, March 25.

Regarding the unconventional Sunday release, a source told us, “The makers are confident that it’s the correct day for release. Sunday will be a big holiday, more so in Maharashtra as Gudi Padwa falls on that day. Meanwhile, Ramzan Eid will be celebrated on Monday, March 31. There’ll be a post-Eid holiday effect on Tuesday, April 1 and Wednesday, April 2 in many centres as well. The collections will again see a jump from Friday, April 4. Hence, until Sunday, April 6, the film’s collections will remain very strong.”
