Fatima Sana Shaikh
has taken to painting! The actress who’s known to pick unconventional characters has picked up a different outlet to express her creative side. Known for her roles in Dangal, Sam Bahadur and Ludo, Fatima is now pushing the boundaries of her
artistic expression
by undertaking
abstract painting
. With bold strokes and a hue of colours, her painting style is instinctive, and the “therapeutic escapade” helps her to connect with herself and evolve.

Talking about how her passion for the art began, Fatima told us, “When I was in college, I realised I had a flair for painting and wanted to take up fine arts, which was an expensive course then.
But for me acting took precedence, especially since I had already done it earlier as a child actor.”
Currently filming with R Madhavan for their next, Fatima continued, “I’ve always been wanting to have the freedom to paint whatever I wanted to, so, in that sense I was sure that I wanted to improve my skills and that only comes with practice. So, whenever I had the chance and time, I would take up the brush and work on my skills. It gives me the opportunity to create something that is unreal and a departure from reality. The idea of creating something beautiful even if abstract is inspiring and exciting for me. I think I listen better when I am doodling or drawing something, I find it very calming.”
