Anjum Chopra raises concerns about India’s lack of a genuine pace bowler ahead of the Women’s T20 World Cup.

With the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 fast approaching, all eyes are on Team India as they prepare for their first match against New Zealand on October 4. The team is gearing up to secure their first-ever T20 World Cup trophy, but some concerns are emerging around key players missing from the squad. Among those is 19-year-old right-arm medium-fast bowler, Titas Sadhu.

Titas, who impressed fans and experts with her skills, has been out of action since May 2024. Her absence has raised questions, with many wondering why such a promising pacer is missing at this crucial time.

In a recent episode of Cricket Insiders, part of the InsideSport series, former cricketer and commentator Anjum Chopra shared her thoughts on the team’s combination and the absence of Titas Sadhu.

“No one knows where Titas Sadhu is” – Anjum Chopra

When asked about the team combination and whether India is missing an express pacer like Titas, Anjum Chopra said “Where is Titas Sadhu? The whole country is asking the same question. We don’t know. I was asked earlier today, ‘Where is Titas Sadhu?’ and I said, ‘We’re all looking for her.’ I’m not sure if she’s in the NCAA, or if she was, but we just don’t know. She seems to have been missing in action since the Women’s Premier League (WPL). I remember she played one game against England and did well, but whether she’s injured, recovering, or doing rehab, no one is aware.”

India missing the pace factor

Anjum Chopra believes that Team India is missing a genuine pace bowler. While Pooja Vastrakar has done well in the team, there’s still a need for that extra pace to tackle various playing conditions. “, the Indian team is definitely missing a genuine pace bowler. Pooja Vastrakar has done well, but we still need that extra pace. I’d also say the team could benefit from a seam-bowling all-rounder. That would really help balance the team, allowing us to adapt to different conditions, whether we’re playing on slow, turning tracks or good batting wickets. Having that seam-bowling all-rounder would provide more options and balance for the team.” She added.
