Former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja has opposed the idea of demoting cricketers on the contract list after the T20 World Cup drubbing

Former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja has reiterated the need for the PCB to not make hasty decisions over the central contracts of the players following the T20 World Cup embarrassment. After Babar Azam and co’s exit from the marquee tourney, reports of the board’s alleged plan to demote certain stars on the contract list emerged.

Should Pakistan reduce pay for stars?

Reiterating his views on the topic, Raja said that the PCB must pay the cricketers or face the risk of the players abandoning the team, as per Geo Super. He added that reducing the pay for the workforce was a ‘delicate matter’.

This is beyond me. Cricketers should be paid, simple as that. They have a limited career and PCB has a lot to give to the cricketers,” Raja stated.

“If you decrease or withhold the salary of a workforce then it will result in the workforce leaving the job. This is an incredibly delicate matter that as a punishment you are decreasing or holding back the salary of someone,” he added.
