What are BCCI Naman Awards?
The BCCI Awards came out in May 2006, but the first CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award was presented in 1994. Since 2006, these awards have built a strong reputation, with BCCI celebrating the contributions of Indian cricketers across various formats, age groups, and roles.
The event not only honours legends but also recognises emerging talents, covering categories from lifetime achievement to junior and age-group level cricket. And once again, BCCI is set to honour some of the most important names in Indian cricket, along with rising stars who have the potential to become legends. Also, the awards also acknowledge the contributions of umpires.
Naman Awards start time
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place in Mumbai in February, and fans can catch the telecast on the Star Sports network. The event will begin at 7 PM IST.
Sachin Tendulkar to receive Lifetime Achievement Award
As mentioned, the prestigious Naman Awards feature multiple categories, but some of the most notable ones include the Col. CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award. This year, it will be presented to the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar.
Meanwhile, recently retired from international cricket, Ravichandran Ashwin will be recognised with the BCCI Special Award.
Once again, Jasprit Bumrah will receive the Polly Umrigar Award for Best International Cricketer. Bumrah has now surpassed both Ashwin and Sachin Tendulkar, who have won this award twice, as he becomes the first cricketer to win it three times. He previously received this honour in the 2018-19 and 2021-22 seasons.
