During a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Esha opened up about her entry into the film industry.
She revealed that initially, gaining approval was a bit challenging. However, once she got the green signal, Boney Kapoor presented her with the script of ‘Koi Mere Dil Se Poochhe.’ Alongside, she also worked on ‘Na Tum Jaano Na Hum,’ juggling both projects simultaneously.
Esha disclosed that convincing her father, Dharmendra, was tougher than convincing her mother, Hema Malini, regarding her acting aspirations. She attributed this to her father’s protective nature, especially being a male figure. Despite his reservations, Esha was eager and prepared to embark on her acting journey.

In a previous interview with The Indian Express, Esha shared insights into her father’s perspective, describing Dharmendra as “possessive and orthodox” regarding her. She revealed his belief that girls should be sheltered from the world in a protective manner. Despite these challenges, Esha acknowledged the unique obstacles faced by both genders in the industry. She emphasized that despite her father’s concerns, they navigated through the challenges successfully.
On the work front, Esha was recently featured in the web series ‘Hunter Tootega Nahi Todega.’ Meanwhile, Dharmendra appeared in the film ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,’ starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. In the movie, Dharmendra portrayed Shahid’s grandfather.
