It was a frustrating day for the Indian cricket fans as the first Test between India and New Zealand kicked off on a sedate note. In fact, the entire Day 1 was washed out without a ball being bowled. The rainfall frustrated massively. To compensate for the wastage of time in the Test match, Day 2 will begin 15 minutes early and 8 extra overs are expected to be bowled. Apart from this, we saw many IPL 2025 retention rumours, with SRH and DC’s acquisition all but confirmed.
Who are SRH’s IPL 2025 retentions?
In a surprising move, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is set to shell out a significant sum for retentions ahead of the IPL 2025. As per ESPNcricinfo, Heinrich Klaasen is likely to be the first retention pick for a staggering Rs 23 crore, while captain Pat Cummins is expected to be retained at Rs 18 crore. Abhishek Sharma is also set to be retained for Rs 14 crore. While the retention fees for Nitish Kumar Reddy and Travis Head are yet to be confirmed, they are also likely to remain with the franchise.
New coach for Mumbai Indians?
The Mumbai Indians (MI) have strengthened their coaching staff ahead of the IPL 2025 season with the addition of Paras Mhambrey as the new bowling Coach. Mhambrey, who previously served as a bowling coach for the team during their successful campaigns, will join forces with Lasith Malinga under the guidance of Head Coach Mahela Jayawardene. Mhambrey brings a wealth of experience to the table, having also served as the bowling coach of the Indian men’s cricket team.
Who are DC’s IPL 2025 retentions?
In a significant move ahead of the IPL 2025 auctions, Delhi Capitals (DC) are set to retain three Indian superstars: Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Rishabh Pant. The team is also considering Hemang Badani and Munaf Patel for the head coach and bowling coach roles, respectively. Despite a disappointing season, Pant, Axar, and Kuldeep were standout performers for DC. The franchise is expected to re-sign them for substantial amounts. Additionally, foreign players Jake-Fraser McGurk and Tristan Stubbs are likely to be retained through the Right to Match (RTM) option.

Virat Kohli’s open letter to AB de Villiers
The ICC announced AB de Villiers, Alastair Cook, and Neetu David as new inductees into the Hall of Fame. Following this, Virat Kohli penned a heartfelt tribute to de Villiers.
