At a special review meeting held at the Rachakonda Commissionerate on Thursday, DGP Jitender stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among all police departments to reduce crime and maintain law and order.
The meeting, attended by DCPs, Additional DCPs, and ACP-level officers from various zones under Rachakonda Commissionerate, focused on key issues related to crime control, case investigations, and the special measures being implemented to ensure public safety. The DGP said he is aware of the challenges faced by officers at the field-level and offered practical solutions.
During his address, Mr. Jitender commended Telangana’s police force for exceptional performance, noting that the State ranks first among the top ten in the country for effective police system. He highlighted that Telangana’s law and order infrastructure is stronger than many other States, which has contributed to the peaceful atmosphere conducive to investment and economic growth. He emphasised that such an environment has directly led to an increase in the State’s per capita income.
Focusing on the importance of daily patrols, Mr. Jitender instructed officers to ensure swift responses to crimes. He wanted senior officers to regularly visit police stations within their jurisdictions, review performance, and tailor plans to suit local conditions. Additionally, he advocated for greater use of technology, including CCTV cameras, to assist in criminal investigations and arrests.
In a bid to enhance public safety, he also stressed the need to monitor and arrest inter-State gangs, keep track of habitual offenders, and take preventive action against recidivism. He further advised the force to prioritise visible policing, strengthen foot patrols, and work more closely with people to address their concerns.
On women’s safety, the DGP reiterated the importance of reinforcing She Teams and taking stringent action to curb the abuse of drugs. He called for awareness campaigns targeting youth to prevent them from falling victims to drug addiction and criminal activities. Additionally, he urged officers to implement robust measures to combat the rising trend of cybercrimes in the digital age, promoting awareness and prevention.
Acknowledging the critical role of traffic police in maintaining law and order, Mr. Jitender praised their dedication to managing traffic even during extreme weather conditions. He appreciated their efforts in controlling road accidents and responding promptly to emergencies. He urged the traffic personnel to provide swift assistance to accident victims and help save lives.
The meeting concluded with the DGP stressing the need for all police departments to work in close coordination to achieve the goal of a crime-free society. He also announced that State-level medals and incentives would be awarded to officers and staff who show exemplary performance in their duties.
The meeting was attended by key police officials, including Commissioner Sudheer Babu, DCPs of Malkajgiri, Yadadri, LB Nagar, Crime, Maheshwaram, SOT, Traffic, Admin, Cyber Crime, and Women Safety, along with several additional DCPs, ACPs, and other officers.
