Educational background
Born in Nagpur, Fadnavis attended Saraswati Vidyalaya School and Dharampeth Junior College for his early education. He holds a law degree from Government Law College, Nagpur University, along with a post-graduate degree in Business Management. Additionally, he completed a diploma in Project Management from the DSE-German Foundation for International Development, Berlin, equipping him for his strategic governance roles.
Fadnavis began his political career in 1992 as a councillor in Nagpur Municipal Corporation. At the age of 27, he became Nagpur’s youngest mayor, showcasing his leadership abilities early on. Fadnavis served as Maharashtra’s CM from 2014 to 2019, becoming the first to complete a full five-year term in nearly five decades. His tenure saw significant governance reforms and infrastructure projects, such as the Jalyukt Shivar Abhiyan, aimed at alleviating drought conditions. Before this appointment, Fadnavis was also the Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.

Family and personal life
Fadnavis comes from a politically active family. His father, Gangadhar Fadnavis, was a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, while his mother, Sarita Fadnavis, worked in social initiatives. Married to Amruta Fadnavis, who is dedicated to women’s empowerment, the couple has a daughter, Divija Fadnavis, marking a close-knit family.
