Delays at Delhi Airport: Bad weather causes disruptions for over 300 flights

NEW DELHI: Bad weather affected flight operations for another day at Delhi Airport. More than 300 flights were delayed on Tuesday. However, no flights needed to be diverted, according to an official, quoted by PTI.
The official confirmed that poor visibility led to delays affecting over 300 flights at the facility.
Later, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) announced on X at 5.20 pm that runway visibility had improved and flight operations had returned to normal. It had advised passengers to check with their respective airlines for updated flight information.
The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), managed by DIAL, typically handles approximately 1,300 flight movements daily.

Other airports also experienced operational disruptions due to unfavourable weather conditions.
“Flights to/from Amritsar, Chandigarh and Patna continue to be impacted. We understand how this impacts your travel plans, and we truly wish wish the weather had been more favourable. We’re monitoring the situation closely and are hopeful for a return to normalcy as soon as the weather clears,” IndiGo stated in an X post at 6.28 pm.
Bad weather and fog has disrupted flight operations across India for the past few days lead to several delays and even diversions and cancellations. Airlines and aviation authorities have issued advisories from time to time to keep track of the flight information.
