Mumbai: PM Narendra Modi on Friday described the Congress as “the most corrupt party” in the country and said that the “ghost of hatred” has entered the party. Modi said that the Congress was now being run by the “tukde tukde gang” and “urban naxals” and that the party had opposed him doing Ganesh Puja at the home of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud as they hated the Ganesh festival.

“The Congress does not respect India’s faith, it does not honour India’s culture. Today’s Congress opposes Ganpati Puja, they have a hate towards it. Maharashtra is witness to how during pre-independence times, under Lokmanya Tilak’s leadership, all communities and people from all strata came together to celebrate the Ganesh festival… When I went to a Ganesh Puja, the appeasement ghost in the Congress came alive and it began opposing the Ganesh Puja. For appeasement, the Congress will do anything,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a rally in Wardha.

Modi is in Wardha to mark the first anniversary of the ‘PM Vishwakarma yojana‘ as well as for laying the foundation stone for a textile park in Amravati. Modi said the Karnataka police putting a Ganesh idol ‘behind bars’ was another example of the Congress hating the Ganesh festival. “The entire country was angered over the police in Karnataka putting a Ganesh idol ‘behind bars’. I’m surprised that the Congress’ allies’ mouths are shut and they have no courage to oppose it. We have to be united to give an answer to the Congress’ sins,” he said. Batting for the Mahayuti government to be re-elected in the state, the PM said that the Mahayuti government had done a lot for farmers including several irrigation schemes which were brought to a halt after the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi government came to power. “We need to be cautious of the Congress and their friends (allies) who have destroyed the farmers. We should never give them an opportunity (to come to power) again… The Congress means only one thing – cheating and dishonesty.”
