New Delhi: The Congress on Monday filed notices for breach of privilege against parliamentary and minority affairs minister Kiren Rijiju and health minister JP Nadda over their statements in Parliament about Karnataka deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar‘s purported remarks in the context of the four per cent quota for Muslims in government contracts in the state.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who is also leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, said none of his party colleagues spoke about changing the Constitution and claimed the BJP charge was a diversionary tactic to avoid discussion on the currency seizure from a Delhi High Court judge’s residence.

In a social media post, Kharge said, “None of our leaders or ministers have talked about changing the Constitution. Only the BJP-RSS leaders have repeatedly talked about the Constitution made by Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar. In order to hide its failures, the BJP stalled the Parliament as part of a conspiracy so that the corruption that has come to light in the judiciary could not be debated in the Parliament.”

In separate notices submitted to the RS chairman, Congress chief whip Jairam Ramesh alleged that the statements made by the two ministers were false.
