Emboldened by the party’s Lok Sabha performance, Congress leaders in Karnataka have now set their sights on winning assembly polls due in neighbouring Maharashtra in a few months. People in the know told ET that Karnataka ministers such as MB Patil, Satish Jarkiholi, Lakshmi Hebbalkar and others are likely to campaign for the party in the border districts of Maharashtra.
Patil on Friday said BJP-led alliance government in Maharashtra would collapse soon, echoing the sentiments of Congress ally Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut. “It is impossible to topple the Congress regime in Karnataka as no party member would consider leaving,” he said.
