NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a rally speech on Saturday, claimed that the previous Congress governments’ approach towards Pakistan was ‘weak’ in handling

terrorism issues

. He highlighted that past administrations resorted to sending ‘love letters’ to Pakistan, hoping for peace, only to receive more terrorists in response.
PM Modi highlighted a significant shift in India’s stance post-2014 Lok Sabha elections, attributing it to the power of voters.

He asserted that Pakistani leaders are wishing for Rahul Gandhi to assume the role of Prime Minister after the upcoming elections.

“Earlier, terrorists used to freely kill innocents and governments used to write

love letters to Pakistan

. But Pakistan sent more terrorists in response to letters. But with the power of your one vote, I said enough is enough; today’s new India doesn’t give the dossier. This is New India, ‘Ghar mein ghus ke maarta hai’, PM Modi said at a rally in Palamu.

During his rally, PM Modi pointed out the effectiveness of recent military actions, such as the surgical and Balakot strikes, in unsettling Pakistan. He said that Pakistan’s current distress is evident in its international appeals for aid.
“The surgical and the Balakot strikes shook Pakistan. Now Pakistan is crying all over the world and is shouting, ‘Bachao, Bachao. Leaders in Pakistan are praying that Congress’ Shehzada becomes the PM. But the strong India only wants a strong government now,” he added.

Addressing regional security concerns, PM Modi credited the post-2014 government for addressing Naxalism, terrorism and Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, former Pakistan minister Fawad Chaudhry commended Rahul Gandhi, likening his socialist ideology to that of his great-grandfather, Jawaharlal Nehru. Chaudhry highlighted common socioeconomic challenges faced by both India and Pakistan, and highlighted the need for equitable wealth distribution.
Jharkhand will vote in four phases from May 13 to June 1. In the 2019 elections, the BJP-led NDA secured 12 seats, with BJP winning 11, while JMM and Congress each claimed one seat.
