Hitting out at BJP MPs for drawing linkages between a foreign investor and Rahul Gandhi, Congress on Thursday said “from day one, when Rahul Gandhi stood up against the government’s corruption, the agents of Adani have started abusing Rahul Gandhi”.
Congress called on Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to ensure that Dubey takes back his remarks and apologises.
Congress MPs protested on the steps of Makar Dwar in Parliament and raised slogans against the use of “derogatory language“. Congress’ Lok Sabha protest also showcased that a larger number of INDIA bloc allies refused to join the party MPs.
Outside Parliament, Congress general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal said: “Congress leaders raised in LS the issue of travel ban on LoP to Sambhal. The Speaker allowed Nishikant Dubey to speak… Defamatory words were used against the Leader of Opposition and Congress… These kinds of derogatory remarks were never used in Parliament. From Day 1, when Rahul Gandhi stood up against the government’s corruption, the agents of Adani have started abusing Rahul Gandhi…We demand an apology from the member who used this kind of language. The Speaker should take necessary action.”
