LUCKNOW: Union home minister
Amit Shah
on Wednesday attacked the
Congress
saying that initiatives taken by the incumbent BJP govt including free ration, free medical check-up and water supply stood in sharp contrast with the shallow ‘Garibi Hatao’ slogan raised during the Indira Gandhi govt in 1971.
Shah said that the BJP has already won 310 seats and was aggressively marching towards the mark of winning 400 seats after the 7th phase on June 1.
“The Congress and
SP
are not crossing 40 and four seats, respectively,” he said, adding that the Congress and SP leaders will lose no time in blaming the
EVMs
for their defeat after the results are announced on June 4.
Addressing rallies in Deoria and Maharajganj, Shah also reached out to the farmers in the region saying that the BJP govt would establish big cooperative sugar mills in the area to cater to scores of cane farmers.
Invoking former PM and farmer leader Chaudhary Charan Singh on his death anniversary, Shah slammed the previous SP and BSP regimes for closing down 30 sugar mills in the state, in what, he said, led to miseries for the farmers. He said that the BJP govt restored 20 mills and opened five new ones while stepping up cane price payment to the farmers.
Shah tore into SP for “killing scores of karsewaks” and “turning the water of Saryu red”. He said that the ongoing election was between those who killed Ram bhakts and those who won the Ramjanmabhoomi case and inaugurated the temple.
Shah also took potshots at the opposition for not having a PM face while planning to give responsibility to their leaders one-by-one for the next five years. “Who can take on Pakistan? Who can fight a pandemic and who can end terrorism and naxalism,” Shah asked, adding that it was only the Modi govt which had the potential to roll out welfare measures for the people.
Shah reiterated that while Modi’s tenure as PM and Gujarat CM remained unblemished, the opposition’s INDIA bloc has been accused of being involved in scams mounting to Rs 12 lakh crore. He also contrasted Rahul with Modi saying that while the former often went on vacations to foreign countries, PM Modi did not take a single leave in the last over two decades and celebrated Diwali with brave jawans at the borders.
Reprising the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) issue, Shah flayed the opposition leaders for getting “scared with the atom bomb” of Pakistan. “We BJP wallahs are not scared of the atom bomb of Pakistan and pledged to take back PoK,” he said.
Shah castigated the Congress for spreading lies about BJP plans to end reservation. “The Modi govt has been in office for 10 years. It never ever thought of doing so. It is in fact the Congress and its allies which snatched reservations from OBC and gave it to Muslims in Karnataka, Telangana and West Bengal,” he said.
