The K.K. Nagar police have registered a case against a Jail Warder for allegedly supplying ganja to a remand prisoner lodged in the Central Prison here. The prisoner, who allegedly received ganja, has been named accused. The case was booked on Sunday on a complaint preferred by Shanmugasundaram, a prison officer.
Police sources said a prison official on Saturday seized 12 grams of ganja from prisoner S. Vatta Suriya, 27, who was lodged in the prison in connection with a case booked against him by the Pettavaithalai police station in Tiruchi district in August. During inquiry, it was found that the prisoner had received the ganja from Jail Warder Ezhilraj. The case booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act read with Prisoner Act is under investigation, the sources added.
