SRINAGAR: J&K police on Thursday

arrested

a radicalised

Budgam youth

, brainwashed by a

Pakistani handler

to join a

Kashmir-based terrorist outfit

,

Ansar Gazwat-Ul-Hind

, and identify potential

recruits

in the

Valley

to form his team.
“On April 29, we got a tip-off that Ansar Gazwat-Ul-Hind, with the help of a Pakistani handler, Hamzah alias Gazi, is trying to revive its cadre base by brainwashing the youth.

Further input led to an overground worker, Waseem Ahmad Sheikh, from Budgam’s Beerwah village. His arrest helped bust Ansar’s recruitment bid,” J&K police’s Counter-Intelligence Kashmir said.
Gazi had assured Sheikh of supplying him with arms and ammunition. The youth was active on Ansar’s WhatsApp/Telegram groups, police said.
