Book club inaugurated at KLS GIT in Belagavi

A book club was inaugurated at KLS Gogte Institute of Technology (GIT) in Belagavi on Friday to promote reading culture among students and staff and the community.

At the event held in the main library, guests spoke of the importance of imbibing reading culture.

Chairman, Governing Council, KLS GIT, Rajendra Belgaumkar emphasized the importance of cultivating reading habits beyond textbooks, stating that such initiatives significantly contribute to the intellectual and personal growth of individuals.

He highlighted that book clubs played a crucial role in fostering a culture of reading among the present and future generations.

Curator of Belagavi Book Club Abhishek Bendigeri elaborated on the activities and objectives of the club. He underscored the club’s commitment to promoting reading, writing and literary engagement within the community.

Principal M.S. Patil, chairperson of Library Advisory Committee Swetha Goudar and librarian Basavaraj Kumbar spoke.

This was followed by an introduction to the Belagavi Book Club by Mr. Bendigeri.

A significant highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between KLS GIT and Belagavi Book Club to facilitate collaborative literary initiatives.

Dean Administration Digambar Kulkarni, teachers, staff, Belagavi Book Club community coordinators Samarth Lohar and Sahana Belavaniki, students Pradeep Patil and Mamata Parvatikar and others were present.

Joining Belagavi Book Club is completely free and open to all language and age groups. The club will regularly organize literary events, book discussions and author talks.
