BJP steps up coordination with RSS ahead of state elections

Efforts are being made by the BJP to step up coordination with RSS in the run-up to the assembly polls in three states with marathon meetings being held between the leaders of the two organisations.

On Monday, BJP leaders from Haryana, including Chief Minister Nayab Saini, Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar, BJP’s election incharge for Haryana Dharmendra Pradhan, state incharge Biplab Deb and co-incharge Surender Singh Nagar attended the meeting. BJP’s national general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh also attended the meeting.

From the RSS, office-bearers of the Haryana unit, and its joint general secretary Arun Kumar, attended the meeting. Kumar is the link officer from the RSS for BJP-related issues.

The meeting started on Monday evening and continued past midnight.

BJP’s incharge for Jharkhand and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Arun Kumar to hold discussions regarding the Jharkhand elections.

Post the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, it was felt that Sangh workers were not so actively involved in the Lok Sabha polls and that there was lack of coordination among the BJP and its ideological mentor.

A similar meeting was held for Maharashtra for two days, which is a high-stake election for both BJP and RSS.

The meeting was attended by senior BJP leaders including Union Ministers Bhupender Yadav, Ashwini Vaishnaw and senior functionaries of Sangh, including Arun Kumar and Atul Limaye.

A section of the Sangh has some reservations over the BJP allying with Ajit Pawar-led NCP in Maharashtra.
