BJD

moved Election Commission on Sunday, accusing Chhattisgarh governor Biswabhusan Harichandan of violating the model code of conduct by making calls seeking support for his son Prithiviraj Harichandan, BJP’s candidate for the Chilika assembly seat.
The party said the governor, a native of Odisha, allegedly contacted “influential” people in the constituency on his son’s behalf while visiting the state from April 30 to May 4.

BJD demanded an inquiry into the complaint and an order restraining Harichandan from visiting Odisha until the poll process was over. BJP dismissed the allegation as a reflection of BJD’s insecurity. tnn
