Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will begin on October 3 in Dhaka. A total of 10 teams will fight for the crown in 23 matches in Dhaka and Sylhet.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) is concerned with the unrest in Bangladesh that could derail the nation’s plans to host Women’s T20 World Cup in October. Bangladesh is currently turmoil with over 40 dead and 500 arrested over job quotas.
“We are closely monitoring the situation, but the event is still some time away. The situation appears to have improved over the last 24 hours,” Cricbuzz quoted an ICC source as saying.
The ICC top brass is currently meeting in Colombo. While the issue was not on the agenda of ICC’s annual congregation, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials were asked about the situation.
The 10-team Women’s T20 World Cup will be played over 18 days in Dhaka and Sylhet. The final will be on October 20. Dhaka is currently facing the unrest.
ICC is already facing the heat for mismanagement of Men’s T20 World Cup in the USA. The international cricket body has already launched an internal investigation regarding fund misappropriation.
