Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, and Wamiqa Gabbi starrer ‘Baby John’ has been the talk of the town right from the word go. Several factors added to the hype like it is the official remake of the South drama ‘Theri,’ which was a massive success, John’s massy avatar, Atlee’s vision, and more. However, it seems the movie has failed to live up to the hype. Irrespective of its calculative release on Christmas, the movie still struggling to cross the Rs 30 crore mark.

According to Sacnilk report, on its first Sunday, i.e. its 5th day at the box office, the movie minted around Rs 4.75 crore, making its total Rs 28.65 crore in India

‘Baby John’s day-wise net collection in India

Released on December 25, the movie made ₹ 11.25 crore on its first day. On day 2, it saw a huge dip of more than 50 percent, when it minted only Rs.4.75. On its first Friday, it further saw a drop with a business of Rs 3.65 crore. On day 4, business looked better with a Rs 4.25 crore collection, 16.44 percent more than day 3 numbers. Then, on Sunday, with an occupancy of 17.38 percent in Hindi, the movie made Rs 4.75 core in India.

On the other hand, the Telegu drama Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, continues an impressive run at the box office. On Sunday, the sequel to the popular action drama made ₹16 crore, taking the collection to Rs 1157.35 crore. On the worldwide stage, the movie has crossed the Rs.1500 mark.

‘Baby John’ review

Directed by Kalees, the movie received 2.5 stars out of 5 from ETimes. Our review of the movie reads – “Bakery owner John D’Silva (Varun Dhawan) is a loving single dad to Khushi (Zara Zyanna). When her teacher, Tara (Wamiqa Gabbi), saves a young girl from being trafficked and takes her to the police station in John’s van, she unwittingly unravels John’s past as a fearless cop, DCP Satya Verma. His real identity exposed, John must confront his nemesis, a dreaded criminal Nana (Jackie Shroff), who seeks revenge for his son’s death. As Khushi’s life is put in danger, John is forced to step back into his past to protect her.”
