Avneet Kaur, who is mainly known for her appearance alongside Rani Mukerji in the 2014 film ‘Mardaani’, recently shared a disturbing experience from a Holi celebration. During the event, a man allegedly misbehaved with her, prompting her to react in anger by hitting him with a bat.
Talking to Hauterrfly, Avneet shared a vivid account of how she stood up for herself during a Holi celebration. She explained that after warning a boy not to hit her, he still threw a water balloon at her. She responded by grabbing a bat and giving him a stern lesson. The incident didn’t end there; the boy’s mother later approached Avneet’s mother, complaining that her son had been beaten. Avneet’s mother replied, “He deserved it for his actions. What else could be done?”.
The actress further opened up about being trolled in school due to her appearance in an advertisement. She shared that classmates would mock her by saying, “Aye, Bunty, tera sabun…,” whenever she walked through the school corridors. This experience was deeply traumatizing for her at the time, leading her to avoid social interactions. She explained, “People assumed I had an attitude because I was a star. Mein hu hi aise, par logon ko kaun batayega.” The constant teasing affected her confidence and irritated her greatly.
She also recalled a bizarre rumour about her in school: “The most stupid rumor was that my teeth were very white because I brushed three times a day. If you have white teeth, it’s really stupid to assume that.”
On the work front, Avneet Kaur is set to appear in the Indo-Vietnamese film ‘Love in Vietnam’, which was officially announced at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. The movie, directed by Rahhat Shah Kazmi, is an intense love story loosely based on the Turkish novel Madonna in a Fur Coat by Sabhattin Ali. The film features Shantanu Maheshwari, Raj Babbar, Farida Jalal, and Vietnamese actress Khả Ngân.
