Union home minister Amit Shah in Palamu
NEW DELHI: As long as the Bharatiya Janata Party is in India, the religion-based
minorities
will not get a
reservation
, Union home minister Amit Shah warned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday after the oldest party promised to give reservations to Muslims.
Addressing a rally in
Jharkhand
‘s Palamu, Amit Shah asked if the reservations would be given based on religion that what will happen to dalits and tribals.
“Congress party talks about reservation. There is no provision for reservation on the basis of religion in the Constitution. We can never give reservation to any particular religion. In Maharashtra a group of Ulemas gave them (Congress) a memorandum that Muslims should be given 10 per cent reservation and the state president of Congress party said that we will help you in this,” the Union minister claimed in a rally.
“I have come to ask the people of Jharkhand that if Muslims get 10 per cent reservation then whose reservation will be reduced? The reservation of backward classes, Dalits and tribals will be reduced. I want to warn Rahul Gandhi from here. Rahul Baba, whatever conspiracy you have in your mind, as long as Bharatiya Janata Party is there, minorities will not get reservation in this country,” he added.
Shah labelled Congress as “anti-OBC”, asserting that their governance consistently disadvantaged the OBC community, particularly regarding the implementation of both the Kaka Kalelkar Committee and Mandal Commission reports.
He commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives, highlighting the implementation of 27 per cent OBC reservation and the establishment of the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC).
“Congress is an anti-OBC party. Whenever they came to power, they did injustice to them. The Kaka Kalelkar committee was made in 1950 but its report went missing. When the Mandal Commission came to give reservations to OBCs, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi opposed its implementation. They took years to give 27 per cent reservation to OBCs in central institutions. In 2014, when the public chose the Modi government, he implemented reservation of 27 per cent to OBCs. He constituted National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) and gave it a constitutional place,” he said while addressing rally in Jharkhand’s Chhatarpur.
Shah criticised the INDIA alliance, declaring the JMM, Congress and RJD coalition in Jharkhand as the nation’s most corrupt administration.
Amit Shah stated, “We came here to appeal to bring the BJP government in the state because the current state government is tangled in the corruption. The government of JMM, Congress and RJD is the most corrupt government in the country. Has anyone ever seen Rs 300 crores altogether? More than Rs 300 crore were seized from the house of a Congress MP.
Around 27 machines were brought count the money but those machines got tired after counting such huge amount of money. Alamgir Alam was minister in the state government. Even Rs 30 crore were seized from his PA’s house, but neither Hemant Soren nor Congress did anything to him. This money is yours, it belongs to the youth and poor of Jharkhand, which these Congressmen have eaten up. If you form a BJP government in the state, we will put the corrupt people behind bars.”
