THANE: As the stage is set for the Lok Sabha elections on Monday, around 15,000
police personnel
have been deployed across the Commissionerate to ensure peaceful polling across the Thane police commissionerate.
A senior police officer informed that they have roped in police personnel of different ranks, from the joint commissioner to constables. Over 15,000 policemen will be patrolling and guarding the poll centers to avert any kind of law and order situation.

, nearly 7,800 cops from Thane police and 3,595 home guards have been assigned.
Additionally,
paramilitary forces
have been deployed, including 6 companies of the State Armed Police Force and 14 companies of the Central Armed Police Force from Tamil Nadu and other parts of the state. Each company has 100 jawans who will be fanned out on the polling stations which requires extra attention.
Speaking to TOI, a senior officer said that a multi-tier
security
cordon will cover the polling centers based on three parameters: at the booth level, within 100 meters of the booth, and through sector patrolling. Several patrolling teams have been dispatched across city limits for this purpose.
Meanwhile, as a pre-election exercise to ensure a fair and safe polling process, the Thane police conducted a flag march in various parts of the city.
“An abundant police force and manpower from various law enforcement agencies have been deployed for the polls in the city. Voters don’t have to worry or fear anyone and can vote for the candidates of their choice. If anyone encounters any illegal activity, they can contact the police immediately,” said Ashutosh Dumbre, the Thane police commissioner.
