. Anuj, who plays Hamid in the show, talks about his work and working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Talking about the show, he calls Heeramandi at par with Mughal -e – Azam. He says, “Visual and artistic elements in Heeramandi will be reminiscent of classic epics like Mughal-e-Azam, with Sanjay sir’s unique touch bringing historical richness and opulence to the screen.
The series promises a visual spectacle that will redefine Indian historical cinema.”
He also spoke about the challenges he faced while filming for Heeramandi, “Filming Heeramandi presented its own set of challenges. The production team’s support and commitment to equality on set were exceptional. I felt valued and respected, which significantly enhanced my overall experience.”
For Anuj, Heeramandi brought multiple memorable moments. He recalls, “Two moments stand out as particularly memorable for me on the set of Heeramandi. The first was when Sanjay sir personally praised my work, acknowledging me as his “lucky charm” in front of the entire unit. It was a validation of my efforts and a moment I’ll always cherish. The second was the camaraderie with esteemed actresses like Aditi Rao Hydari, learning from their craft and dedication. Working alongside such talents reinforced the importance of director-actor synergy and the power of collaborative storytelling.”
Heeramandi has a stellar female cast comprising Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Sharmin Sehgal, Aditi Rao Hydari, Taha Shah Badushah, Shekhar Suman and Adhyayan Suman.
