Actor

Siddhant Karnick

, who played the character of Ranbir Kapoor’s brother-in-law in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s directorial film ‘Animal’, recently talked about his

casting couch

experience in the early days of his career and shared how he felt odd.
During a conversation with Hindustan Times, Siddhant Karnick talked about his experience on the casting couch when he was 22 years old and had just begun his career in film.

He mentioned that he had met a

coordinator

who had invited him to his residence at 10:30 at night after asking to see his portfolio. “It felt odd, but I went ahead with it,” Siddhant said.
Upon arriving at the coordinator’s home, the actor noticed that pictures of his family were all over the place and that it appeared to be a safe environment, but he had a strange feeling. Karnick recalled that the coordinator had brought up

industry standards

and had made a subtle reference to compromising in order to advance in one’s career. “‘Kuch compromise nahin karoge, tab tak kaam nahin ayega,’ he said, and I sensed where this was leading,” Karnick added.
The actor did not give it much thought, and when the man came closer to him, Siddhant stated he was not interested in doing this kind of work. The coordinator warned Karnick that he would ensure the actor did not receive any work and threatened to ruin his professional prospects if he refused.

Karnick was invited as a star guest to a college event, where he met the coordinator. Since some of the actor’s TV projects were performing well at the time, he approached the actor and complimented him. “They’re not rapists, they are opportunists, and if you don’t give them the opportunity, they won’t come to you. Opportunists like him don’t change. For true change to happen, one needs to change the way they respond. Now, 20 years later, I’m here today, doing my thing with utmost integrity,” Karnick concluded.
On the work front, Siddhant recently starred in an episode of the web series ‘Made in Heaven Season 2’ and in the film ‘Adipurush’.

‘I truly believe that Delhi has the best food,’ says Siddhant Karnick
