Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha has asked the officers of the Prosecutions and Police Departments to update their knowledge on the modus operandi of cyber crimes and in detecting them.
“Though there was a decline in crime rate in the State, cyber crimes are on the rise. The assistant public prosecutors (APPs), public prosecutors (PPs), advocates and the police officers should have enough training in detecting online frauds,” the Home Minister said.

Speaking at the one-day State-level workshop on ‘Digital Evidence – Its Importance’, organised by Prosecutions Department, in Vijayawada, on Saturday (February 15, 2025), Ms. Anitha directed the police to enhance e-vigil to check crime rate in the State.
Director of Prosecutions Byra Ramakoteswara Rao, NTR Police Commissioner S.V. Rajashekar Babu and prosecution officers from all over the State attended the workshop.
“About 1 lakh CCTVs are targeted to be installed in the State soon. But, it is better to have surveillance cameras for each house like other electronic gadgets,” the Home Minister said. She praised the lawyers and officers of Prosecutions Department, who were relieving the public from mental stress in the courts with their arguments.
“If the PPs, APPs and the investigation officers have better coordination, they can gather all evidences, arrange witnesses and see that the accused get maximum punishment and render justice to the victim,” Ms. Anitha said.
Mr. Rajashekar Babu explained the importance of digital evidence with some case studies. He elucidated how some critical cases were being detected by using CCTV footages, mobile phones call data, drones and other evidences.
