NEW DELHI: The
Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation
(GCMMF), which markets
dairy products
under the iconic Amul brand, has announced a price reduction of Re 1 per litre for its one-litre milk packs across India.
The move, aimed at promoting the purchase of larger packs, was confirmed by GCMMF managing director Jayen Mehta.
“We have reduced the prices of one-litre packs by Re 1 per litre across India,” Mehta told PTI. “This is to encourage consumers to buy larger packs of milk and get an incentive for the same,” he added.
In Delhi, the price of
Amul Gold
milk has been revised to Rs 67 from Rs 68 per litre, while
Amul Taaza
will now cost Rs 55, down from Rs 56 per litre.
GCMMF reported an 8% increase in its turnover, reaching Rs 59,445 crore in the 2023-24 financial year. The cooperative is optimistic about sustaining double-digit revenue growth this fiscal year, driven by robust demand for its dairy products.
On average, GCMMF handled 310 lakh litres of milk per day in the last financial year and has a total annual milk processing capacity of approximately 500 lakh litres.
With its roots in Gujarat, GCMMF is the world’s largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative, representing 36 lakh farmers from 18,600 villages. The cooperative’s 18 member unions procure around 300 lakh litres of milk daily.
GCMMF has also secured its position as a global dairy leader, ranking 8th among the top 20 dairy companies worldwide in milk processing, according to the International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN).
