Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has come out in support of his son, Abhishek Bachchan, after a social media post claimed that he has been unfairly subjected to the ‘nepotism’ debate.
Amitabh, known for his active presence on social media, caught sight of a tweet that read, “Abhishek Bachchan unnecessarily became the victim of ‘nepotism’ negativity, but the amount of good films in his filmography are very high.” Responding to the post he wrote, “I feel the same .. and not just because I am his Father.”
His reaction resonated with fans, with many agreeing that Abhishek has often faced undue negativity despite his talent and contributions to Indian cinema.
Abhishek, who has carved a niche for himself in Bollywood with films like Yuva, Guru, Bunty Aur Babli, and Dasvi, has long been compared to his legendary father. While some have accused him of benefiting from ‘nepotism’, others argue that he has been ‘unfairly scrutinized’.
Previously, Amitabh shared his thoughts about his son’s film ‘I Want to Talk’. Writing on his personal blog, he shared how the film deeply affected him, while describing how Abhishek’s portrayal of the character Arjun Sen transcended his real identity. He wrote, , “Abhishek… you are not Abhishek… you are ARJUN SEN of the film. Let them say what they say.”
On the work front, Abhishek is set to star alongside Shah Rukh Khan in the upcoming film ‘King’. The movie, said to be an action flick, will also star Suhana Khan in a leading role, with Abhay Verma.
