The revised alignment for the Kollam-Theni National Highway (NH 183) development has received the final approval, Kodikunnil Suresh, MP, has said.
The stretch from Kadavoor in Kollam to Anjilimoodu in Alappuzha district would be completed initially. The existing NH will be widened to four-lane with a width of 24 metres. The decision regarding the final approval of the alignment was made at a meeting of senior officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in New Delhi the other day.
“We had approached Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to request his intervention in expediting the procedure for getting final approval of the alignment. The Minister, who responded positively in the meeting, said a quick decision would be taken,” said Mr. Suresh.
75 ha to be acquired
In connection with the development of National Highway 183 a total of 75 hectares of land will be acquired in the first phase. The NHAI aims to complete the land acquisition within a year and start the road construction works. The road passes through Kundara, Chuttumala, Kallada, Bharanikkavu, Chakkuvalli, Thamarakulam, Charummood, Chunakkara, Mankamkuzhi and Kollakadavu.
Land details uploaded
The revenue procedures required for the issuance of 3(a) notification in Kollam and Haripad in connection with land acquisition are progressing rapidly. The land-related information and survey numbers related to the project have already been updated on the Bhoomi Rashi portal. “Land acquisition and highway development works will be carried out simultaneously, with the stretch from Kollam Kadavoor to Vayyankara being the first stretch, and the part in Alappuzha district from Vayyankara to Anjilimoodu being the second stretch,” said the MP.
