AAP to go it alone in Goa assembly, local body polls: Atishi

In a major setback to

INDIA bloc

, Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi on Monday said the party was preparing to contest the 2027 Goa assembly elections on its own.
The party will also take the solo route for the upcoming Zilla Parishad elections and municipal elections in the state, added the

AAP

leader.
In the June

2024 General Elections

for Goa’s two parliamentary constituencies, both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC) won one seat each. The INDIA bloc secured 40.1% of the vote share, while the NDA alliance dominated with 51.6% of the contested votes.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the largest party, winning 20 seats, followed by the Indian National Congress (INC) with 11 seats in 2022 Goa Legislative assembly elections.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MAG) both secured 2 seats each, while the Goa Forward Party (GFP) won 1 seat. Independents won 3 seats, and the Revolutionary Goans Party bagged 1 seat, according to ECI data.
In terms of vote share, the BJP led with 33.31%, while the INC secured 23.46%. AAP received 6.77%, and MAG followed with 7.60%. The remaining vote percentage was shared by other smaller parties and independents, with 19.37% falling under the “Other” category.
