The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday announced major changes in its leadership, assigning new roles to key leaders, including Saurabh Bhardwaj, Manish Sisodia, and Gopal Rai.

The reshuffle comes after the party’s defeat in Delhi, prompting a strategic reorganisation.

Following a Parliamentary Affairs Committee meeting at national convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s residence, the party named Saurabh Bhardwaj as the Delhi unit chief and appointed Mehraj Malik as the head of the Jammu and Kashmir unit.

Here are the new leadership roles assigned to the party members:

  • Saurabh Bhardwaj: Delhi unit chief
  • Manish Sisodia: Punjab unit chief
  • Gopal Rai: Gujarat unit chief
  • Pankaj Gupta: Goa unit chief
  • Sandeep Pathak: Chhattisgarh unit chief

Gujarat remains a crucial battleground for AAP. After its Punjab victory in 2022, the party aimed to challenge the BJP in Gujarat, securing a nearly 14% vote share and five seats in its debut Assembly elections. Gopal Rai has been tasked with furthering AAP’s presence in the state.

Manish Sisodia, now leading the Punjab unit, will oversee organisational work and ensure the implementation of AAP’s agenda in the state. He will coordinate with the state convenor and office bearers to strengthen governance, focusing on health and education reforms. According to ANI sources, Sisodia will play a key role in shaping the “Punjab Model” in the coming months.

Despite legal challenges in Delhi, AAP continues to expand its influence, restructuring leadership to strengthen its foothold in key states.
