As many as 479 Shuddha Ganga drinking water units have been installed in drought affected areas of the State under the Shri Kshetra Dharmastala Rural Development Programme (SKDRDP) since 2009. Every day, these units provide clean drinking water to 5.91 lakh people, said president of SKDRDP Jnana Vikasa Programme, Hemavathi Veerendra Heggade in Dharmasthala on Wednesday.
Addressing the supervisors of the drinking water units in Dharmasthala, Ms. Heggade said Shuddha Ganga units have been set up to meet the need of fresh drinking water, which addresses most of the health problems of women and children in drought affected areas. Asking the supervisors to strive to reach all needy people, Ms. Heggade asked them to meet consumers once every year and get their feedback on the usage of drinking water.
