4 dead after inhaling toxic gas at chemical unit in Gujarat

NEW DELHI: Four workers lost their lives after inhaling toxic gas at a chemical plant in Dahej, Bharuch district, Gujarat, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred around 10 pm on Saturday at the CMS plant of

Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited

(GFL) when the workers inhaled fumes leaking from a pipe on the ground floor.
“The incident occurred at around 10 pm when the four workers fell unconscious due to gas leakage from the pipe passing through the ground floor of the company’s CMS plant. They were rushed to a private hospital where all four of them died,” Dahej police station inspector BM Patidar was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
The workers were taken to a private hospital in Bharuch, where three of them died around 3 am on Sunday, and the fourth worker succumbed at 6 am, the official added.

The bodies have been sent for postmortem, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
