1984 anti-Sikh riots case | SAD leader Daljit Singh Cheema welcomes life sentence for Sajjan Kumar

Chandigarh Feb 25 (ANI): Shiromani Akali Dal leader Daljit Singh Cheema expressed mixed emotions over the life sentence given to Sajjan Kumar in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case. He felt a sense of relief, but also sadness that justice was delayed by 40 years, raising concerns about the effectiveness of the Indian justice system. Cheema acknowledged that while the verdict brings some satisfaction to the families of the victims, many have passed away waiting for justice. Nevertheless, he believes that the Sikh community will find some solace in knowing that a criminal has been punished. On life sentence to Sajjan Kumar in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Daljit Singh Cheema says, “This is a relief. But it is also sad that this came after 40 years. This raises big questions about our system. Still, I think families will be a little satisfied with this. Several people passed away while awaiting justice. But their families and Sikh community will feel that a criminal was punished.”
