Difference Matters
Home minister Amit Shah gave an exhaustive speech on the working of the home ministry in the Upper House. Chairman Dhankhar presided over the proceedings but had to take a short break as advised by his doctors. He had undergone treatment for cardiac issues recently. Dhankhar soon returned to the House and pointed out to Shah that he was following his doctors’ orders while the minister had the energy to go on. Shah shot back, saying (this may be due to the fact that) there is a big age difference between them. Dhankhar said it is a difference of two generations.
B-Boy’s Request Turned Down
BJD MP Sasmit Patra’s birthday, which falls on Sunday, was celebrated by the Rajya Sabha on Friday, the last working day before his special day. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar spoke afew lines about Patra. Minutes later when Dhankhar declared that Private Members’ Bills will not be taken up and instead the discussion on the working of the home ministry will be concluded, Patra said since it was his birthday (impending), he would like to request that at least these bills be introduced but his request was turned down.
Paying Tributes
At the ongoing RSS Pratinidhi Sabha in Bengaluru, the Sangh fountainhead paid homage to prominent people who passed away last year. While condolences were paid to those ideologically associated with the Sangh, RSS also paid tributes to former prime minister Manmohan Singh, Malayalam author MT Vasudevan Nair and tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain
