Suryakumar Yadav was appointed as the captain of the India T20I squad after head coach Gautam Gambhir took charge of the squad
The India Cricket Team might have clinched a stunning 4-1 win over England in the IND vs ENG T20I series. But the poor form of Suryakumar Yadav has raised questions. The Indian captain has managed to score just 28 runs in 5 games with 2 ducks to his name. Now, Ravichandran Ashwin has claimed that SKY needs to change his batting approach to make him better in the shortest format of the game.
SKY’s highest run in the recently concluded India vs England series was 14. Being a former World Number 1 in T20Is, a lot is expected from SKY. While his captaincy has been on point, his batting hasn’t. A similar problem is also with opener Sanju Samson.
SKY’s poor batting form – a grave concern
Ravi Ashwin was baffled to see that both the ace batters were dismissed to English pacers on similar conditions. He claimed that both were dispatched on the same mode of dismissals making the same mistake which is a grave concern for the team.
“The problem though, however, is Suryakumar’s batting. Of course, his captaincy has been really good in this series. His captaincy has been on point, too. But he can allow his batting some much-needed breathing space. Sanju Samson and SKY getting out to the same ball, same field, same shot, same mistake, same dismissal,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
“I can understand it happening in 1-2 games, but this is not uncanny anymore. Players should play with freedom, but our batters need to have better answers to the same question,” he added.

Ravi Ashwin has claimed that Suryakumar Yadav needs to make changes to his batting. While the former spinner lauded SKY for his top-notch captaincy, he also revealed that the batter needs to change his batting style. Ashwin further revealed that SKY needs to make adequate changes and is confident that he would dearly do the same.
“Suryakumar Yadav is a very experienced guy. One could say he was at the forefront of a change of guard of sorts. But it is time he changed his approach to his batting,” Ashwin concluded.
