A 35-year-old man from Kadapa was arrested by the Dharmavaram police on Sunday for allegedly assaulting his estranged wife at her home at Badannapalli in Dharmavaram mandal and taking away their seven-year-old son.
According to the police, Lalita (29) and Bhoomiah, a resident of Garipalle in Kadapa district, had been living separately owing to marital differences. On Saturday night, Bhoomiah visited Lalita at her home, assaulted her and took away their child on a motorcycle.
The woman, fearing that the Bhoomiah might hurt the child, alerted the police. Subsequently, Deputy Superintendent of Police Hemant Kumar, acting on the instructions from Superintendent of Police V.
