Extension centers set up for the procurement of ragi (finger millet) will continue to function up to August this year.
The centers were set up last year to procure ragi slated for distribution through fair price outlets. The outlets were proposed to function till January. However, the procurement centers have now been extended up to August.
The district has been assigned a targeted procurement of 930 tonnes of ragi.
The procurement of ragi is undertaken through Dharmapuri regulated marketing society, Tirupathur main road, Madhikonpalayam, Dharmapuri; Agriculture producers Cooperative marketing society, Vannathipatty in Pennagaram; and Harur Regulated Marketing Society, opposite Government hospital, Harur.
