While ‘Laila Majnu’ marked a significant milestone in Sahiba’s career, it also gifted her a cherished bond with Triptii. Speaking to News18 Showsha, Sahiba revealed how their connection blossomed both on and off-screen.

“When Triptii and I were on the sets of Laila Majnu, she became my sister. Interestingly, I was playing her sister in the film, though many thought I was playing her friend,” Sahiba explained. Their camaraderie grew naturally as both hail from Delhi, attended Delhi University, and share a love for street food like momos and noodles. Sahiba also revealed an endearing connection—they discovered that Triptii used to live right across the street from Sahiba’s grandmother.
Recalling their initial meeting on the sets in Kashmir, Sahiba shared how they instantly clicked. Sahiba said that she and Triptii shared a room for one week, and during that time they became inseparable. “I would like to think that I survived that set because of Triptii. She truly made the experience special for me,” Sahiba said, adding that their friendship evolved into a strong sisterhood.
Interestingly, Sahiba had auditioned for Triptii’s role in ‘Laila Majnu’ before being cast in a smaller role. Despite this, the film turned out to be a turning point in her career, paving the way for another Imtiaz Ali project, Amar Singh Chamkila.
Although their careers took them on separate journeys, the bond between Sahiba and Triptii remained intact. “Life happened, and we got busy, but we’ve stayed in touch,” Sahiba noted.
Earlier Sahiba shared a throwback video comprising of moments from her ‘Laila Majnu’ days and penned a heartwarming Instagram note that read, ““Humaari kahaani likhi hui hai” This one is special.
