Bollywood’s Saif Ali Khan is popularly known for his role as ‘Ranvijay Singh’ in the iconic ‘Race’ franchise. In an old interview, Saif Ali Khan opened up about the origins of the iconic film ‘Race’, revealing that it was inspired by the Hollywood movie ‘Goodbye Lover’. During a conversation with the cast, Saif recounted how Bipasha Basu pointed out the similarities between ‘Race’ and the 1998 film, which led to an interesting discussion on set.
During an old interview with East India Comedy, Saif explained that while filming a scene at a hotel, Bipasha mentioned she had seen ‘Goodbye Lover’ on TV and felt that it resembled their movie. This revelation sparked curiosity among the cast, prompting them to question whether the directors were aware of it. Saif humorously recalled that the directors acknowledged there were indeed some similarities.
Both films share similar supporting characters that contribute to their suspense and humour. For instance, Ellen DeGeneres plays a quirky detective in ‘Goodbye Lover’, which is like Anil Kapoor‘s comedic detective role in ‘Race’.
Interestingly, while ‘Goodbye Lover’ is not a Korean film, one of the songs in ‘Race’, ‘Pehli Nazar Mein,’ has been noted for its similarity to a Korean song.
