on Sunday, leading to the burning of several tents. The fire broke out at 4:00 pm due to a cylinder blast, officials said.

Mela, causing a massive fire in the camps. Fire fighters are trying to douse the blaze,” Akhara Police Station in-charge Bhaskar Mishra was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

The fire erupted near the Shastri bridge in zone 19 of the mela. “The fire broke out in sector 19 in the tent of Gita press. The fire spread to the nearby 10 tents. The police and administration team reached the spot,” Ravindra Kumar, DM, Prayagraj said while talking to news agency ANI.

Fire brigade teams were immediately dispatched to the spot and the fire had been doused.

No casualties or injuries have been reported so far.
Earlier in the day, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath conducted an aerial survey of the Maha Kumbh area.
The 45-day Maha Kumbh 2025 started on Paush Purnima on January 13.
