Kanniyakumari police crack down on illegal waste and mineral transportation

The Kanniyakumari district special team police detained two individuals and seized a vehicle transporting food waste near Kuzhithurai area.

According to police, the special team seized a vehicle transporting food waste from Mariagiri into a pig farm in Surulacode and arrested the driver and another person in the vehicle. The accused are identified as P. Prashanth, 32, from Kollengode and K. Joy, 36, from Ayinkamam in Kerala.

In a similar operation, the special team seized another vehicle and arrested the driver near Pazhugal region for transporting hotel waste from Kerala. The accused in this case was identified as J. Jeyin, 29, from Thirparappu.

Additionally the district police arrested a youth and detained a tempo for allegedly transporting minerals without a permit.

During a vehicle check near Chithirancode check post, the police detained a tempo carrying minerals without necessary permits. The driver J. Abhishek, 20, from Verkilambi was arrested.

A case has been registered at Kotticode police station and further investigations are on.
