The Puducherry government will hold an event on Friday to hand over appointment letters to the newly recruited Junior Engineers (JEs) and Overseers in the Public Works Department (PWD). The government had recruited 99 JEs and 69 overseers.
The appointment letters will be handed over to the newly recruited officers by Lt. Governor K. Kailashnathan, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and Minister for Public Works K. Lakshminarayanan at the event that will be held at Kamarajar Manimandapam near Sivaji Statue.
Mr. Lakshminarayanan said the PWD had given promotion to around 500 of its employees after the government took over in 2021. The recruitment of JEs and overseers had been long overdue with the JE posts being filled after more than 20 years. After the appointment of the new officers, each of the 14 divisions would have at least a minimum of five JEs, he said.
