CPI State secretary K. Ramakrishna emphasised the need for unity among Communist parties to protect the Constitution amid growing threats to the democratic secular Constitution drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he said the Communist party had played a significant role in the country’s freedom struggle. The CPI and the Andhra Mahasabha participated in the Telangana armed struggle. He recalled that CPI’s land struggles led to the distribution of 10,000 acres of land to the poor. He emphasisd that due to Communist movements, governments across the country initiated land reforms.

The CPI leader criticised the BJP for not participating in the freedom struggle, stating that the party had no respect for Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, B.R. Ambedkar or the Indian Constitution.

Mr. Ramakrishna released  an audio CD produced by the Andhra Pradesh Praja Natya Mandali. Lyricists Chaitanya Prasad, senior journalists Nalli Dharma Rao, Yadla Krishna Kishore, Babji, and Devarkonda Srinivas contributed to the songs, while film director and singer Vande Mataram Srinivas, Praja Natya Mandali State President P. Chandranayak, General Secretary Chinnam Penchalayya, and Treasurer R. Pichayya lent their voices.

CPI national executive member Akkineni Vanaja, CPI State Executive Members Jangala Ajay Kumar, AITUC State General Secretary Ravulapalli Ravindra Nath, CPI Vijayawada City Secretary G. Koteswar Rao, AISF State President Janson Babu, and other Praja Natya Mandali leaders participated in the event.
