Tucked away in different locations of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, are two shops that carry the legacy of former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s deep connection with the city and his love for its local delicacies.
One such shop is Bahadura Sweets, located in Naya Bazar, which has been serving delectable treats for nearly a hundred years.
About a kilometre away from Bahadura Sweets, at Agrasen Park in the city, Ram Singh Chauhan can be seen frying Mangodis, a local delicacy made from lentils and spices. This popular snack, a favourite among the people of Gwalior, held a special place in the heart of Vajpayee, who had a unique bond with Ram Singh’s family.
